STL Import for Solid Edge

STL file import add-in for Solid Edge

This program is a Stereolithography (. stl) file import add-in for Solid Edge®. This plug-in gives Solid Edge the ability to import geometric information from ASCII and Binary STL files.

STL Transfer for Solid Edge scans polygon mesh data kept in STL files plus imports it into Strong Edge. A polygon nylon uppers in a STL document is comprised of a collection of triangular faces. This program produces trimmed planar surfaces for each triangle/quad and knits all of them together to create the body. When the polygon nylon uppers is closed (i. electronic. it does not consist of boundary edges) then STL Import for Solid Advantage will create a shut body feature, otherwise an open surface will be created.

This program is very simple to use. Once set up, it automatically loads itself into Solid Edge and adds a new submenu called " This program " to the particular Solid Edge Applications menus.

The STL Import with regard to Solid Edge menu is made up of the following commands:

# Import - Import a STL file

# Help - Display the This program help file

# Register - Register your own copy of STL Transfer for Solid Edge

# About - Display the particular STL Import for Strong Edge About box

This program comes with detailed documentation for each command as well as a tutorial in order to get you started within the shortest possible time.

The particular STL File Format

The STL file format is the Rapid Prototyping industrys standard data transmission format and is usually the format needed to communicate with stereolithography machines. Stereolithography files contain solids that are made up of 3 sided facets. STL files may be ASCII or binary data, although binary is far more common due to the ensuing size from the CAD information when saved to the particular ASCII format. A STL file describes a natural unstructured triangulated surface by the unit normal and vertices (ordered by the right-hand rule) of the particular triangles utilizing a three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system.
