SIM ICQ provides an plugins-based IM
SIM Instant Messenger provides a great plugins-based instant messenger together with support for various practices.
All protocols support richtext-messages, file transfer, typing warning announcement, server-side contact list (with postponed synchronization - an individual can change addresses inside offline mode along with record on all changes will probably be synchronized with server), brand-new account registration, various lookups and HTTP-polling.
You could use multiple accounts regarding each protocol: Oscar : ICQ and AIM help; Jabber; LiveJournal; MSN; Bing!
